Identity Management

Identity-management refers to the lifecycle of managing one's identity with respect to an particular service or federated group of services.

Identity and Access Management(IAM) is a more general term describing the ecosystem of processes that users and IT managers employ to allow or restrict access to network based services.

Processes that users and institutions go through include the following steps in establishing and maintianing identity as well as access priviledges.

Know  Your Customer

Previously anonymous users must prove their physical identity to each new service.  Government services such as DMV may ask for a physical credential such as a Passport or Driver's License.  Online Services such as retail banking may ask Knowledge Based Authentication questions to establish the physical identity of a new user.

Recurring Authentication

GlobalCrypto's RealMe authentication software provides credentials  to end users in the form of digital images which are specially encoded.   These credential images are protected with a password which is required to unlock the encoded cryptographic information which makes RealMe a true multi-factor authentication.

Re-Enrollemnt

When credentials are lost or stolen online users may request a re-enrollment which is similar to a password reset.  RealMe allows IT managers to issue new credentials to users upon request.  Know Your Customer information may be used to vet a suspicious user when they request a new credential to prevent account takeovers.
